FAQs

How will this help me?

It’s easy for you - use that skill to trade with one that’s not so simple. Our tech means you can find what you need - when and where you need it. Share the skills you have and look after what you love.

How will this help my community?

Not sure how to help your community? Skill sharing is a good start. In tough times, pulling together makes sense for everyone. Your skills could make a difference to you and to the people around you.

Are there different values attached to skills?

We value each person's time and in our view, it’s all equal. Think of it as an exchange of energy. Use your energy to help someone else and fill up on other energy when you need it.

Do I need to find someone to swap with?

Hi-tech meets sustainable skill sharing - you don’t need to find a swap. You simply do your thing and receive a credit of time. Secure, quick transactions make finding help on Kesero so easy.

How do I sign up?

All you need is an email address that you can access for validation and a few minutes to get started. Fill in your details (postcode or city is enough detail in the address section) and add an image and a short bio.

Kesero is a Progressive Web App and so there is no need to download anything from the app store. You can access Kesero on any device via your browser.

What should I include in my bio?

A bio is a great way to introduce yourself to other members who are looking at a skill you have listed, or you’re requesting some time with. There is space for 300 characters, so keep it short and give people a little insight into who you are.

How many skills can I add?

As many as you like. You can deactivate the skills at any time by clicking ‘Unavailable’ on the skill card. This saves the data but hides the skill until you switch back to ‘Available’

How do I get more credits?

Well, you get two hours simply by signing up! Then you earn more by accepting requests for your skills. Make the experience great for your fellow skill-sharer and you'll get a great review, leading to more requests and more credits.

What if the skill I need is not listed?

Not listed - yet!

Let us know and we’ll spread the word. Lots of our members are yet to add skills or have added what they think others may find useful. Members could be sitting on the very thing you need, completely unaware they could be putting the skills to good use.

Why are some hours locked?

On the freemium version, you can accrue hours to use for larger projects or regular events, however, the hours beyond 4 will be locked in a vault and you will have to be on the premium plan to access these. Click on Memberships to learn more.

What are the benefits of the premium plan?

If you have a personal membership you have the option of upgrading from the free version to get some added benefits. Your profile will include a premium badge and there will be no cap on the hours you can spend. So if you have been busy sharing skills and accumulating hours, you can book lots of things, a larger project, or some regular slots.

Expect Birthday bonus time and other treats too as well as huge appreciation from us for your contribution to this amazing skill-sharing community.

What happens if I don’t use the time in my account?

Your time can sit in your account until you are ready to use it, although the free hours awarded at sign-up will expire. If you want to give without taking, you can easily gift time to another account, which includes our charity members. Do what you love and give the gift of time to someone else.

Can I manage my availability?

We currently have a calendar where you can record which days you are typically available. This will ensure you don’t receive requests for your skill on a day you are not available You can also use the ‘skill-active’ toggle in your account for times you are on holiday, etc. If the requested time doesn’t suit you, simply suggest an alterative. The messaging service is an easy way to make arrangements without disclosing any personal details.
