We are excited to share news from the Sharing Economy community.

Fellow Sharing Economy UK member, Hiyacar launched in Scotland on 29th May, bringing their unique offering to Edinburgh.

A simple life means a simple way of accessing what you need. We’ve got you covered when it comes to skills, and now in Scotland, you can experience another kind of sharing.

Hiyacar was established in 2016 and is the only platform that offers both peer-to-peer and a traditional return to base car club on the same platform.

With so many cars sitting idle for the majority of the time, car sharing is a great move towards a more sustainable way of life. Access to a car when you need it? Sounds good right? Through the Hiyacar platform, you can save money by booking a car when you need a car or make extra money by listing your own car. It’s good news for the planet as well as your pocket.

Clever keyless technology, Quickstart, means private car owners can share their car with local people without the need to hand over keys. Everything is done via virtual keys in the app.

I chatted to co-founder and COE Graeme Risby about the launch which has gone brilliantly. All but one of the car club vehicles were booked out across the launch weekend and they have completely smashed their forecast in the first month. What a start!

This incredible demand shows that more people are ready to embrace a move to access over ownership. Something so crucial in tackling climate change.

The feedback and positive reviews have been flowing too. One happy customer tweeted “Just what we have been needing to help power us out of the pandemic.”

Join the sharing economy and save money - as well as make a difference. With platforms like Hiyacar and Kesero it’s easy!

And right now, code EH10 will get you £10 off your first booking with Hiyacar. Just in time for that summer staycation!
